Clydebank SA

29th - Clydebank Salvation Army Corps Anniversary

Tthe band got Clydebank Salvation Army's 123rd corps anniversary off to a great start with a festival of music.

The first half of the programme started with two contrasting pieces, Call of the Gospel and then Everlasting Hope. It also included Immeasurable, Canadian Folk Song Suite and Gigue - Alleluia, Amen.

We featured several soloists in this half of the programme: Alex Ramsay (cornet) played Don't doubt Him Now; Songster Leader Brian Allan (piano) played Debussy's Reverie; YPBL Chris Shanks played the euphonium solo Precious Jesus which was his wedding present from his wife Emma, and was written especially for him by Andrew Blyth; and Robert Addie gave his testimony. We were also delighted that Clydebank Songsters contributed to the programme by singing Count Your Blessings.

The first half was concluded with one of the highlights of the night, The Day of the Lord.

After a short interval the programme recommenced with Salsalvation before the congregation got the chance to join with us in a congregational song. We then moved into a more reflective part of the programme: Clydebank Songsters sang the lovely song Know My Heart; Deputy Songster Leader Lynn Shanks (flugel) played I Surrender All; Band Sergeant David Kendall provided some words of reflection; the band brought the time of reflection to a conclusion with the very emotive Procession To Covenant.

The evening come to a conclusion with the corps flags of both Bellshill and Clydebank being brought to the front of the hall while the band played Celebration.

We thank Clydebank Songsters for their support and for their contributions to the programme.
