 18th / 19th - Visit of Birmingham Citadel Band

Birmingham Citadel Band visit to Bellshill 18/19th April 2015

 18th - Saturday night festival

On a warm and sunny spring night, our hall was packed to capacity with those who came along to hear Birmingham Citadel Band who were visiting Bellshill for the weekend, to lead us in worship.

The programme got off to an excellent start as the band played Make His Praise Glorious. and it was clear as the programme continued that the band were there to make His praise glorious!

We were treated to a number of solos during the programme including the tenor horn solo You Love Me played by Neil Blessett; Mark Sharman played the trombone solo Fiesta!; David Taylor played the euphonium solo Locomotion; and the marimba solo Zimba Zamba played by Rob Hayward.

The programme included a variety of music, including Skydance, Jubilo! Jubilo!, Variations on Laudate Dominum, Vox Dilecti and The Liberator. The highlights of the evening were definitely the band's presentation of the very emotive Everlasting Hope and the final piece of the night, The Day of The Lord.

Birmingham Citadel Band gave us a great evening of music and worship to start our band our band weekend, and so lokked forward in anticipation to the meetings the next day.

Many thanks to everyone who came along to hear the band, we pray you enjoyed the evening and were blessed by the band's music and their message.

 19th - Sunday meetings

Birmingham Citadel Band lead our meetings on the Sunday.

During the holiness meeting Major Steve White spoke about "the call" from Jesus and in the afternoon "the command" following on the theme from last evening of "the choice".

After the scripture message in morning meeting, the band played I'll Follow Thee which was a special moment for many of those who listened.

The afternoon meeting began with Let There Be Praise and led into a time of prayer with Bow The Knee which features the melody associated with these words:

Bow the knee;

 Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see.

 Bow the knee;

 Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity.

 And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan,

 In the presence of the King, bow the knee.

The featured soloists in the afternoon were Edward Dixon (Eb tuba) who played The Bare Necessities and Matthew Frost who played the trumpet solo Flourish.

The major work of the afternoon was Shine as the Light by Peter Graham featuring music from Joy Webb's Candle of the Lord.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough, Major White and the Birmingham Citadel Band for shring such a spirit filled weekend with us. Many ahve been blessed and inspired by your visit.
